Book Review: Moment in Peking

Moment in Peking is a magnificent novel written by Lin Yutang, also known as "Jing Hua Yan Yun" in Chinese translation. I have read the aboriginal copy since a month ago, and I really love it for the main characters: Mulan, Mania, Mochow, and Lifu. I love the plot as well. Lin depicted Peking as a city combining ancient and modern elements so beautifully and harmoniously in the beginning, and a little sadly due to wars, reforms, disasters, etc. However, humanity still existed and hope never disappeared throughout the novel, which is why I feel proud to be a Chinese by sharing the same culture/history with Lin Yutang and the characters in Moment in Peking. I would like to evaluate more about the characters in the near future (if I have enough time).

By the way, do not watch the recent TV series, a relatively new Mainland adaptation. The TV series indeed cannot be compared with the original story, and cannot be called "good" at all in my mind.
