Last night I did not sleep well for a couple of reasons:
1. I drank black tea last evening.
2. We turned the air conditioner on whole night, and the sounds are big and irregular, which made me nervous.
This morning I became crabby for lack of sleep, but then I made up my mind to cherish my life as long as I live a better life than 3 people.

Agree or disagree that students should(not)work at part-time jobs when attending the university
People would have different opinions on that whether college students should work at part-time jobs or not. For me, I think the decision to take part-time jobs is based on a condition: his/her ability to strike a balance between his/her work and study. If a student could use one’s wisdom to handle both work and study, I believe that they have the right to take a part-time job.
Take some of my classmates at my university for example, they could work as tutors while maintaining good performance on their studies, so they did part-time jobs happily and properly. However, I also met some classmates could not do well on their studies for they are too busy working on part-times. My suggestion is that unless there are great economical pressures on them, they should always put their studies as the first priority, and try to quit their jobs or change to other part-time jobs.
If people could fulfill the condition that I just mentioned, I totally agree that they should work at part-time jobs for a couple of reasons. Firstly, taking part-time jobs help students broaden their horizons. They will be able to meet more people from different backgrounds, and learn new skills in a more practical way. If the job is highly-related to the student’s major, he/she could grab the chance to apply his/her knowledge to his job, get more knowledge in a learning-by-doing environment, ask valuable advice from his/her boss, or even increase the chance to find a suitable job after he/she graduate from college. As a result, a useful part-time job experience would be advantageous to one’s future career.
In addition, one will learn independence from working at part-times. Since a student could pay his/her tuition and daily expenses from his/her part-time salary, it will help them to be independent from their parents. More importantly, they will understand difficulties to earn money and work within a society at an earlier stage, so they could be more mature and responsible for their life.

A Favorite Song
May It Be lyrics
May it be an evening star
Shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls
Your heart will be true
You walk a lonely road
Oh, how far you are from home
Mornie utúlië (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantië (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now
May it be shadows call
Will fly away
May it be your journey on
To light the day
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun
Mornie utúlië (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantië (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now
A promise lives within you now
May it be an evening star
Shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls

The passage and the lecture analyze altruism in very different perspectives. The passage views altruism as a selfless act in many animals, including human beings, and cites the behavior of sentinel meerkats as a strong evidence. However, the lecture reveals deeper findings of a research in meerkats’ behaviors, which considers altruism as a way for one’s own benefits. The lecture’s aspects are discussed and compared with the passage in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, the lecture reveals that sentinel meerkats have a full stomach when they serve as guards, which means they could get benefits from their “altruistic” behavior. On the contrary, the passage alleged that they do their job for no return, which proves to be wrong from the finding.
Secondly, the lecture points out that sentinel meerkats have greater chance to escape from predators, for it is easier for them to find a near shelter than its peers. Research also finds out predators are prone to attack other peers, while the passage believes the sentinel are under greater danger. By the 2 new findings, the lecture inferred that altruistic animals (including humans) may evaluate the benefits of being altruistic to be far greater than the costs. For example, an altruistic person may view donating his/her own kidney as a very valuable thing, and he/she could receive great self-worth and non-material values from the act.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Good teachers are more important to a child’s development than good parents.(COMPLETED in time)
Some people think that good teachers are more important to a child’s development than good parents, for me, I think it depends on varied situations, but generally good parents are more important than good teachers.
Teachers teach and guide students at school, and parents do the same thing after school. In addition, parents show a child how they live their lives, how they handle daily problems, how they treat different kinds of people, etc. Since a child usually spends more time with parents than teachers, generally parents have more influence on children.
On the contrary, a good teacher can mean a teacher with good teaching materials and attitude, which would supplement what parents miss to mention or teach, so it would be valuable to a child’s development. However, usually a teacher needs to take care of a couple or even dozens of students under limited time and activities, so he/she may not be able to understand and affect each student deeply as their parents do. When adults commit crimes, our first reaction to their abnormal behaviors is, “How their parents teach them?” Rarely the responsibility of child’s development lies on teachers, so good teachers are less important than good parents.
Take me for example, I have lived with my parents for 24 years, but only had been taught by different teachers for 16 years, most of whom lost contact with me when I finished my studies. As a result, most of them are not highly responsible for my mental growth. My parents treat me with love, caring, patience, and wisdom, so I can attribute 90 percent of my development to my parents teaching and breeding. A lot of people might share the same life experience as I do, so it is fair to say that good parents are more important to a child’s development.

Writing has a healing magic
Today I felt a little unhappy, uneasy, and not very satisfied with myself. These feelings are not controlled very well. However, when I try to write them down and analyze them, the uneasy feeling just decreased and gradually disappear.
Now I feel calm and happy again. Writing really has a healing magic.
By the way, today I went to see "送行者" with Mom. I really like that movie a lot, for its unique topic, complete organization, and thoughtful plots. I also cry hard for some plots, for I really can identify with those people who feel regretful after they had lost their loved ones. I hope I do not need to regret when the day comes.

Resolutions
Simple two abstract resolutions:
1. Try to prepare for what I want to do beforehand.
2. Work for my dreams. Work for them on my free will.
Simple three concret resolutions:
1. Do not watch TV channals except BBC, CNN, and Knowledge.
2. Keep calm. Always support and love myself.
3. Support my family and dearest friends as long as I can.
Let's see how I get improved after 6 months. Go for it!

當人生氣時,就會只有三歲
Even being angry is harmful both physically and mentally, from which I could find some truth about life:
1. I am the only person having the right to make my life happier or sadder.
It depends on how I view my life and how I compare it with other people's.
2. Do not hold on things (or people) too tight. Should learn when to relax and let go.
3. When people are angry, they are only 3-year-old. ~From my cousin Judy

I was a little upset (now recovered)
I felt a little upset when my boyfriend told me he cannot contact me (maybe for days), since he lost his mobile battery charger in the army. After his explanation, the 20-second conversation was stopped probably due to the low battery of his mobile phone.
firstly, I feel upset and lonely. Secondly, I strongly hope he could still keep contact with me in other ways, such as using other people's phones or using pay phones. Thirdly, I asked my sister how she handles this kind of situation, she replied: "Just do something else."
Her suggestion made me feel a lot happier.
Go for it!
